It ain't over 'til it's over!

Should Senator Hillary Clinton quit now that Senator Obama has insurmountable lead in delegate support?

Why should she? Whatever happened to the democratic process where every vote counts? The race is so close that it is only right that this campaign take its natural course through the remaining States and each and every vote is counted before a winner is declared.

Hillary Clinton has already achieved something unprecedented - mount a serious attempt to become the first female President of the only super power. She has broken the barrier for women by effectively neutralizing the female angle of her candidancy. Obama on the other hand has not quite done the same for African Americans. His support has come due to his personal charisma and popularity. Another African American candidate in future will not necessarily get the same reception from the white America.

The sad result of this campaign though is that it will be a long time before another woman mounts a serious campaign for presidency. The long primary campaign in effect puts female candidates at a disadvantage as men usually have a clear advantage in physical stamina over women.

It is time to reform the electoral process and create a level playing field for all potential candidates.
